Restaurant
What comes to mind when I think of the word “restaurant” is “yes, I don’t have to cook tonight.” But how many times have you heard your little ones or even the big ones sometimes say, “Mom, what’s for dinner tonight? I’m hungry”. You respond with “spaghetti”. Then that one says, “I wanted hamburger steak”. The next child comes in and asks the same question, you give the same answer; then that one wanted “macaroni and cheese”. Your loving husband comes through the door from a long day at work and says “Honey! Guess what I am hungry for? “what”, you say. “All day at work I was thinking about meatloaf with mashed potatoes and brown gravy. And some nice hot rolls to go with it” your husband puts in. Wow, you think to yourself, “what do they think this is, a restaurant?”
Don’t get me wrong, I love to cook and bake and enjoy the family gatherings but sometimes it is just best to put away the apron and go find a nice restaurant. Just the other day we asked Taryn (one of our grandchildren) what she wanted for lunch because she played an awesome game of soccer being the goalee. She says, “somewhere where we can eat saimin noodles”. There’s Shiro’s Saimin on Oahu and we love their #52; saimin with char siu, green onions, spam, fish cake and yes, that yummy broth. Ummmm, I can so taste it right now.
Here in Washington state, we like to eat our saimin at Bobby’s Hawaiian Restaurant in Everett. The aloha spirit is there and the food in great ( ONO). You got to stop by sometime and try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed.
